Kerry Cliffs. Located just outside Portmagee, the Kerry Cliffs are a viewpoint of some of the highest cliffs in Ireland. Facing directly West across the Atlantic Ocean,on a clear day Skellig Michael is visible as is the Dingle peninsula to the North. Caution is advised as the cliffs are prone to strong winds and breeze, access on to the cliffs.

The Kerry Cliffs. The Kerry Cliffs tend to get overshadowed by the Cliffs of Moher,. It's a good 45-minute drive here from Portmagee so, when you arrive, hop out and head for a ramble. There's 7km of sand here so plenty of room to stroll. You'll often see surfers tackling the waves here. There's a fine big car park, too.

The Kerry Cliffs is the nearest point on the mainland from which to view the Skellig Islands and are situated on the Skellig Ring which is an 18km loop just off the Ring of Kerry.

The Kerry Cliffs are only a 3km drive from Portmagee so it was a perfect pre-dinner sight seeing activity. Arriving at the Kerry Cliffs After leaving Portmagee, we arrived in a large car park at the entrance to the Kerry Cliffs. We parked up, walked towards the entrance kiosk and paid the entrance fee of โ‚ฌ4 per person.

The Ring of Kerry is one of Ireland's most popular drives. In one day, you can drive through miles of green, rolling hills, explore colorful, Irish towns, and see a fantastic stretch of Ireland's rugged coastline. It is a beautiful scenic drive and it's no wonder that it makes it onto so many traveler's wishlists. We were not so lucky.

The small village of Portmagee is what connects County Kerry's hidden gem, Valentia Island, to the mainland. The village, which is home to some 120 or so people, is so small, you don't need transport to get around as you can walk from one end of the village to the other.
